Types
Formal&Informal:
Educational
This could be formal or informal depending on the dynamic or the presentation. For example a seminar would be considered informal because it is an open presentation with interaction encouraged. More of a discussion with an individual running it. Whether as a lecture is more formal for it is usually based on one person talking/visiting with little discussion.
Live Streams
Live streams is perfect for influencers and social media users to present ideas or products to followers, leaving it as a very informal way to present whatever you are trying to show and offers the opportunity to connect with your customers personally and see their reactions first hand in live time. A more formal way would be a structured pre-organised live stream with a script and set time given for the stream, as you have to be sure to get all the information needed within the allotted time.
Pitches
Whether it be business based or product based, a pitch is one of the more notoriously formal presentations out there. The classic show Dragons Den shows us the type of presentation and why it is so formal, with large sums of money and investments involved there seems to be added pressure to present your ideas in a more formal setting assuring all information is given correctly. A more informal pitch would be an in-house presentation, such as a business owner coming to talk to their team about an initial idea and delegating tasks to present a more formalised product.
Styles
Visual
Mainly image based, typically a presentation using some kind of application that will give you 'slides' or previews of the image/product on offer. This would mainly be used in a creative environment for example a designer would use a mood board with various images to create a visual representation of the idea or product at hand.
Coach
Coaching is based on the idea of bringing up people making them positive in pursuit of your presentation. To be positive and encouraging is a style that will please the person listening and watching, giving them a feeling of comfort and assurance. This mainly works for self-help presentations that offer information to improve yourself.
Freeform
More like Ted talks. Its informal and can be interactive as well as informative - there is usually not much of a followed script it is more of an impromptu presenting where the person will have a basis of what they are talking about but plan on going with the crowd at the time.
Skills
Speaking
Knowing how to talk clearly and efficiently is certainly a skill. And one that is vital for either formal or informal presentation. You must be sure to get all the information that is relevant within the allotted time given
Language
Knowing when to use certain words in certain situations, being sure the correct language that suits the audience. For example if you were doing a presentation to students you be sure to use certain words that are key parts of the presentation, and explain them as you go to ensure the students are fully aware of what you're talking about.
Creativity
Being creative in your approach! So you can keep your audience captivated during the presentation. Although it seems obvious having a wide variety of mediums to explain your points will keep multiple personality types fixated on you during the presentation. This could be via your language or the visual aspects.
